Fireplace Room Remodel: Installing a French Door + Windows {Part 3}

I’m really excited to be sharing this phase of our fireplace room remodel with you all today. It’s the point where we (and by we, I mean everyone else!) could finally start to see the potential in this space. A pair of French doors and windows can do that to a person!

Last week, I shared the demo phase of our fireplace room remodel where we ripped everything down to the studs, and now I’m going to be chatting all about the new French door and side-by-side windows we installed in here! They really made all the difference. I’m not kidding. I think this might have been my favorite part, watching how the room just instantly transformed before our eyes when the door and windows went in… although I tend to say that about almost all of the phases of this remodel. Honestly, it’s all been fun and exciting… just in different ways!

DIY Farm Table + Bench for $150 {Tutorial}

Hi sweet friends!

Earlier this week, I blogged about the simple + neutral farmhouse-style gallery wall that I created as part of our dining room makeover using antique-looking pieces that I had collected over time. I really do love how it turned out! It’s kind of funny… when you’re renovating an older house, it can sometimes feel like you’re not making much progress. And then I’ll be sitting in our dining room and think back to how it looked when we first moved into our home two years ago, and realize just how far we’ve come!

Fireplace Room Remodel: Demo Time! {Part 2}

Earlier this week, I shared the vintage farmhouse inspiration behind our fireplace room remodel. We actually started renovating this space early last year, working away on it every single weekend and night after work for nearly four or five months straight. It was just a little crazy, as you can imagine. But I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Our fireplace room is my favorite spot in the house now, and I spend almost all of my time in there! (You can see the “before” tour of our split-level fixer upper here.)

Fireplace Room Remodel: Vintage Farmhouse Inspiration {Part 1}

Last week, I shared the “before” tour of our 1963 split-level fixer upper, in all its original glory. When you live in an older house, it can sometimes feel like your project to-do list is a hundred feet long and like there’s no end in sight! But it’s so reassuring to look back on our “before” photos from time to time and remind myself just how much progress we’ve actually made since we first moved in. It really is starting to look like a different house!

$10 Distressed Farmhouse Trays {Tutorial}

Hi there, sweet friends!

You know how I love a good thrift store find. Well, I found these vintage wooden folding trays hiding out at a local Goodwill about a year or so ago and, at only $5 for a set of four, I just couldn’t pass them up!

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried looking for folding trays, but let me tell you – they can be so dang expensive! At least the stylish ones are. I had been searching for a set for awhile, but none were in a price range I could justify spending. So, when I came across these folding trays at Goodwill, I thought it would be fun to give them a little chippy, farmhouse-style makeover!
